Hack the Feed

Overview

Hack the Feed is an interactive student and influencer workshop taking place at TUS Athlone on Friday 25 September 2026. Bringing together approximately 60 Digital Marketing students, TUS Digital Creators and local social media influencers, the event explores how social media shapes the way young people understand human rights, current events and historical memory.

It will be led by multimedia communications professional and human rights storyteller Deborah Miranda, participants will examine misinformation, digital storytelling, algorithms, online narratives and the responsibilities that come with creating and sharing content about complex human issues. The event moves from learning and critical discussion into a practical Hack the Feed Challenge, where mixed teams become digital communications teams and develop responsible, engaging responses to real-world social media scenarios.

At its heart, the event asks participants to consider one powerful question: How are the stories we create, share and engage with today shaping what society understands. and what future generations will remember?
